A snippet of conversation I had today with a fourth grade child, whom I shall refer to as D:
D: How come you're wearing glasses? You don't usually wear glasses. You shouldn't.
Me: Ummm, thanks? I have to wear 'em.
D: Ya know if you took one of those straight irons and straightened your hair, and put on LOTS more makeup, you could be on America's Next Top Model.
Me: It's not really one of my goals to be on Top Model... but thanks!
D: Oh, no, I'm serious. You should try. You are skinny enough. Just get rid of the glasses.
Me: I'd have to stop eating doughnuts, though.
D: Really? ... Then never mind.
